Specializing in rare, out-of-print, and deleted secondhand vinyl.
And other nifty stuff like that. Just for you!

Welcome!
Welcome to Repetitive Beats, now celebrating its third year on the Internet! We are a stockist of secondhand vinyl, dedicated to finding you those tracks you've been after for ages, or the records that we think deserve to be heard.

When we originally launched in Spring of 2004, our focus was mainly on all forms of electronic dance music, from techno to trance, house to jungle, ambient to gabber. This still holds true, but we have now expanded our selection significantly to bring you even more cool stuff; from rare punk and indie records, to classic new wave, funk, and even disco too. In addition to a heavy focus on the 12" vinyl format, this year we will begin to stock 7" vinyl as well as CDs. So keep your eyes peeled!

We will be adding more tracks each and every week, plus providing label scans and sound clips to help with your decision. This process is slow and time-consuming, but please keep checking back. We have over 5000 items yet to be added, so if you don't see what you're looking for, or you have any questions about what's available, please don't hesitate to contact us, and we'll try to respond just as quick as we can.

About the name, "Repetitive Beats"; the term is taken from the text of the UK's Criminal Justice and Public Order Act of 1994, Section 63, Paragraph 1, Line B. This act in effect criminalizes any sort of rave in the United Kingdom; making it illegal to gather and dance to techno and other electronic music, which the bill defines as "sounds wholly or predominantly characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats." Former US attorney general, John Ashcroft, wanted to pass similar laws in the United States, banning (amongst other things) any sort of large-scale gathering where dancing is involved. Thankfully, this never materialized.

DANCING TO MUSIC MUST NEVER BE ILLEGAL.

We've steadily been adding much more to our selection over the past several weeks. We've doubled the selection of UK hardcore, fleshed out the 45 section heavily, and added quite a bit of house and hard house. Plus, I've just changed the featured items in the upper right. There's still plenty more to list, so please do keep checking back each and every week!

All right, after much trial and error, I believe things are now in order. There should be scans, audio clips, and Discogs links on every item. If you come across any in the database that are without all of the above, please get in touch with me.

Hard to believe it's been a month since the start of the year already. They're not kidding; as you get older, time really does fly! I've spent most of the past week getting more stock up and ready. There have been additions to flesh out a wider selection of genres. We've now got the beginnings of selections in:
  • gabber / euro hardcore
  • goa / psytrance
  • goth / industrial / darkwave
  • hard house
  • hard trance
  • house
  • indie rock
  • progressive trance
  • punk rock / hardcore
All in all, there's just over 90 new items added this week. And as always, I will be adding more and more as my time permits.

The path to a full, functional website with stock is a long and arduous one. Heh. It's been a task trying to get everything up and running, sure enough, but I'm pretty pleased with the progress that has been made. Just about every item currently for sale on the site has a sound clip, with exceptions of a few of the CDs. All drum and bass and UK hardcore vinyls have 600x600 label scans. And every item has a link back to Discogs for a full, extensive tracklisting. I'm going to try and polish off the remaining soundclips and label scans over the weekend, and by the beginning of the week I should have everything all set to go for weekly updates from here on out -- I'm gonna shoot for 50 to 100 new items every week.

My thanks go out to everyone who's already placed an order while the site's in its transition period here, and to all the customers that have supported this site over the past two years. I'm working hard to bring you the best in customer service, extended information, and stock selection!

Still working. You'll notice the bottom bar now has a GEMM search, so if you can't find what you're looking for here, be sure to check down there as well. It all goes into the same cart so don't worry about losing your orders from here. Also, just signed up for clip and image hosting through AudioClipArchive. Pictures and sounds for all of the items on the site should be coming later this week.

In the meantime, I've gone ahead and added 100 UK hardcore / oldskool rave tracks, plus a few CDs and CD singles as well. Check them out!

As the site's been sitting dormant for the past few months, I figured it was time to switch up the design a little bit. You like? I like. I'm probably going to be making a couple random tweaks here and there, but overall, I'm pretty pleased with the new layout. If you have any suggestions for improvements (that can be handled with my limited HTML and CSS skills), please get in touch, as I'd love to hear from you.

Currently waiting on the first update for the new catalogue to be processed. Starting it back up small again; 34 breaks records, 50 drum and bass records, and 39 synthpop / 80's records. Still working on cataloguing all the rest in conjunction with Discogs.com, whose URLs you'll notice on all of the listings; copy those into your browser and you'll be taken to a page with all the info on the record itself. They run a great service (albeit a bit slow sometimes), so check them out. Then on top of that, there's still the label scans and sound clips to come yet... yeesh. I'm amazed I have any free time at all.
